Davis Wright Acquires IP Boutique

Davis Wright Tremaine is snapping up three-lawyer patent and trademark boutique Parsons Hsue & de Runtz. The addition of James Hsue and K. Alison de Runtz as partners, and Gerald Parsons as of counsel, brings 480-lawyer Davis Wright's San Francisco lawyer count to 40 and adds copyright and trademark prosecution skill to its local six-member IP practice, the firm said. Consolidation in IP will continue, according to a legal recruiter, due partly to the relative expense of IP litigation for a small firm.
